Finding a church home can be intimidating especially if you’re new to the neighborhood or if you haven’t had much experience with church in the past. You’re probably checking the site right now trying to get an idea of what SFBC is like before you show up on a Sunday morning. Here are the answers to a few questions you might be asking:
Where do we park?
We have designated guest parking in the large West Parking lot off Dewitt. It is easy to find and closed to the Sanctuary and the sidewalk. If you have children you may want to park on the East side of the buildings as the children check ins are closer to that side. No matter what door on our campus you enter there will be someone there to greet you and lead you to your next location.
What kind of people will I find at Sachse’s FBC?
Sachse is a great community filled with a love for God and a love for people. We are open to all races, ages, and life stages at SFBC. Here you’ll find that you can have unity without conformity.
If I visit will I be put on the spot or called out?
No. We do try to be friendly and warm and chances are someone will say hello to you if they do not know you, but it is never our objective to embarrass you or call attention to you. We will ask that you fill out a small form that will allow us to get more information to you. If you don’t want to, that’s cool, we still appreciate you checking us out.
How does everyone dress?
Everyone is encouraged to come in whatever attire they feel most comfortable. For a few that will mean slacks and a tie, for most it means jeans and a polo. You will typically find our Lead Pastor, Josh King, preaching in jeans and a button-down shirt. For the most part we are more “Old Navy” than we are “Old School,” but you’ll feel right at home no matter what you wear.
What is the music like?
In a world that has drawn a line between contemporary and traditional worship, we seem to walk the line. The majority of our worship would be classified as a contemporary (Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Steve Fee, etc.), but we still love the theological depth and poetic beauty contained in hymns.
Will the preaching put me to sleep?
That all depends on your bed time the night before. Josh’s teaching is always Biblical, consistently applicable, and typically humorous.
Are you affiliated with a denomination?
As our name implies we are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention nationally and the Southern Baptist of Texas state wide. This affiliation allows us to take part and support the largest missions organizations in the world as well as the second largest relief effort.
What Sunday morning activities do you have for children?
Our Children’s Ministry is saturated with loving and caring teachers who engage and encourage children. Fun and truthful Bible lessons are taught during the Life Group hour and continued times of children’s play & worship is offered during the morning worship service at 10:30a.m for birth – kindergarten.
